Faculty Forum is a monthly feature written by Professor Michael Higdon highlighting the achievements of faculty at UT Law including publications in academia and the media, speaking engagements, interviews, awards and other accomplishments.

Associate Dean Michael Higdon’s article “If You Grant It, They Will Come: The Enduring Legal Legacy of Migratory Divorce” is currently one of the top ten most downloaded articles in the legal scholarship network on SSRN.

In its 2021 report, the UK competition authority in its 2021 report referenced Professor Maurice Stucke’s recent book, “Competition Overdose” (co-authored with Professor Ariel Ezrachi), as well as their earlier articles and book, “Virtual Competition.”

Stucke’s book, “Competition Overdrive” (co-authored with Professor Ariel Ezrachi), was included and reviewed in Lexxion’s list of “The Antitrust Books You Should’ve Read in 2020.”

In an article titled “Is More Competition the Answer for Audit,”  the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales featured Professor Maurice Stucke’s book, “Competition Overdrive” (co-authored with Professor Ariel Ezrachi).

Professor Penny White is currently serving as a visiting professor at Harvard Law School in the capacity of one of three faculty teaching the Harvard Trial Advocacy Workshop. In addition to teaching the daily classes, she designed the course’s impeachment exercises that comprise two days of the workshop and presented the plenary lecture on impeachment skills and strategies.  

In December, Professor White presented a Knoxville Bar Association Lunch and Learn on the topic of “Me Too Evidence in Sexual Harassment and Discrimination Cases.” She also presented state-wide, web-based seminars on Evidence, Practice and Procedure in Civil Cases, Recent Decisions in Employment,  Appellate and Civil Procedure, Evidence, and Family Law in Tennessee, and Ethics.

Professor White also presented an on-line program for all judges serving on the United States Civilian Board of Contract Appeals, a tribunal serving under the General Services Administration that resolves disputes involving Federal executive branch agencies and private contractors.

In celebration of the anniversary of women’s suffrage, the 15th Judicial District sponsored programs featuring Tennessee women attorneys.  Professor White was the featured speaker at a program about women in the profession in Tennessee in the 1980s and 1990s, including her own personal experiences.
