ABA Book Publishing, a division of the American Bar Association (ABA), has published the third edition of a book by Gregory M. Stein, the Woolf, McClane, Bright, Allen & Carpenter Distinguished Professor of Law at the University of Tennessee College of Law.
The book, A Practical Guide to Commercial Real Estate Transactions: From Contract to Closing, Third Edition, is co-authored by Morton P. Fisher Jr. of Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, LLP, and Michael D. Goodwin of Arnold & Porter, LLP.
“Because much of the real estate lawyer’s practice revolves around transactional documents, the book emphasizes the drafting, negotiation, and revision needed to get a deal closed...A Practical Guide to Commercial Real Estate Transactions offers a useful combination of text overview and practice pointers,” reads the book’s description. “It helps lawyers with less experience navigate through the maze of steps involved in a real estate transaction. At the same time, it serves as a valuable reference for more seasoned attorneys as well as those whose practice is concentrated in other areas of the law.”
The book has already sold out on ABA Book Publishing’s website, but it is available for backorder.
Stein is one of the nation’s leading experts on real estate finance and development and land use in both the United States and in China. Stein served as a Visiting Fulbright Professor of Law at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, People’s Republic of China, during the spring semester of 2003 and returned to Shanghai as a Fulbright Specialist during the summer of 2005. During his time in China, Stein had the opportunity to conduct research in Chinese real estate law, with a focus on how real estate professionals in China operate against an uncertain and rapidly evolving legal backdrop.
Stein’s research resulted in the book Modern Chinese Real Estate Law: Property Development in an Evolving Legal System, published in 2012.
