The University of Tennessee College of Law invites lawyers, activists, students, scientists, faculty, and members of the community to gather on Saturday and Sunday, October 24 and 25, for an international, two-day conference on achieving environmental and social justice throughout throughout the Appalachian bioregion and surrounding areas.
The conference, the Sixth Annual Appalachian Public Interest Environmental Law Conference (APIEL VI), will be held at the College of Law, 1505 West Cumberland Avenue. Sponsored by the College of Law and United Mountain Defense, the conference will feature a series of workshops and dialogues led by lawyers, activists and scientists who will gather to exchange information, share skills, and foster collaboration between grassroots organization, the bar and future lawyers, and policy-makers in addressing the region’s most pressing ecological problems.
Online registration is required. For lawyers seeking continuing legal education (CLE) credit, the cost is $90, which covers eleven hours of credit (including one hour of dual credit). For those not seeking CLE credit, the cost is $65. Students attend for free.
