Institute for Professional Leadership – 2024 Symposium

Lighting the Way for 10 Years:
A Symposium on Leadership in Law and Lawyering

The University of Tennessee College of Law’s Institute for Professional Leadership has been “Lighting the Way for 10 Years” and is celebrating with a symposium on October 24 and 25, 2024. This is the third symposium sponsored by the Institute and features panels of academics and practitioners from across the country who will discuss and lead discussions about legal leadership trends and challenges, including diversity, self-leadership, and empowering lawyers to lead clients, organizations and advocacy groups.

Each of us, as a professional leader, bears a torch. The Torchbearer is a symbol of The University of Tennessee, Knoxville and an inspiration for our work. In that spirit, our 2024 symposium is designed to provide enlightenment to participants through both reflections on past achievements in law leadership teaching and scholarship and the encouragement of new ideas that foster the continued development of instruction, research, writing, identity and skills relating to leading as lawyers. We look forward to engaging you in our celebration and exploration.
