The College of Law’s Class of 2019 has raised more than $110,000 for student scholarships and programs through the third-year (3L) student class gift campaign.
Each spring semester at the College of Law, graduating students organize the fundraising effort, encouraging their classmates to develop a practice of giving back to their alma mater.
College of Law Senior Director of Development and Alumni Affairs Steve Evans said this is the largest philanthropic investment and the highest level of student participation made by a graduating class in the law school’s nearly 130-year history.
“The hard work and generosity of this class will support future generations of UT lawyers who will follow in their footsteps,” Evans said.
Students John Adgent and Sam Henninger, who have led this year’s campaign, said their class was committed to record-setting fundraising.
“It is a testament to the pride that we take in our class and the law school community as a whole, and the confidence that we have in our degree,” Adgent said.
Funds raised during the campaign will support a number of areas including scholarships for students, the UT Legal Clinic, the Clayton Center for Entrepreneurial Law, and the Institute for Professional Leadership.
Henninger said he’s excited about how the fundraising might impact future students.
“Our class is filled with very generous people who are committed to making UT a great place,” he said. “These contributions ensure that future UT Law students will have the terrific experience that I have had here.”
Along with Adgent and Henninger, the 3L class gift committee includes students William Beasley, Mackenzie Bell, Hollie Cheek, Christopher Davis, Hope Hamilton, Charlotte Houser, Lauren Hughes, Sharon Kumi, Jasmyn McCalla, Chidimma Nwaneri, Addison Rogers, Tyler Sims, Ariane Sowa, Dillon Zinser, and Daniel Zydel.
