The University of Tennessee College of Law invites applications for the position of Assistant Director of Admissions, a twelve-month appointment in the College of Law.
Duties:
Under the direction of the Director of Admissions and Financial Aid, the Assistant Director will:
- Plan and recruit, counsel, advise potential students on the application process, basics of financial aid and the benefits of attending The University of Tennessee College of Law;
- Review application materials, occasionally interview potential candidates, and make admissions decisions for the approval of the Director and or the admissions committee;
- Oversee a recruiting plan to attract a diverse student body nationally and locally, while also finding new ways to reach applicants digitally with the use of social media and/or on-line marketing;
- With limited guidance from the Director, complete oversight and implementation for pre-admission and post-admission recruitment events, both on- and off-campus.
A bachelor’s degree and two-three years of experience in admissions, customer service or related field are required. Master’s or JD with 3-5 years of graduate/law school admissions or higher education work preferred.
The candidate must have outstanding interpersonal skills, and be able to speak to different constituents while also being comfortable with public speaking. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. The ability to use social media easily and fluently and use multiple software platforms is critical to being a successful candidate. Energy and enthusiasm is also necessary. Knowledge of graduate/law school admissions practices and knowledge of the legal profession preferred. The candidate must have the flexibility to spend multiple days and nights away from Knoxville, TN, and will work some evenings and weekends. A valid driver’s license is required.
