Graduate launches project to assist offenders reenter society

Recent College of Law graduate Brooke Spivey has been named a 2020 Fellow with Equal Justice Works.  The organization annually selects a class of public interest lawyers who have designed innovative projects in partnership with legal services organizations to address unmet legal needs and underserved communities.

UT Law welcomes new assistant dean for student affairs

Maria Saez Tatman has joined the University of Tennessee College of Law as the assistant dean for student affairs. Saez Tatman will also serve as the director of diversity and inclusion for the College of Law. “We are so pleased to have someone of Maria’s caliber joining our team,” Dean Melanie Wilson said.

UT Law student awarded Baker Donelson Diversity Scholarship

Second-year University of Tennessee College of Law student Kelsey Morgan has been named a 2020 recipient of the Baker Donelson Diversity Scholarship. In her position as a summer associate, she will work in the firm’s Nashville office. Two additional scholarship recipients will work in the firm’s Houston and Memphis offices.

Incoming UT Law students have history of high academic achievement

The University of Tennessee College of Law’s incoming class of students is both the largest and most accomplished in several years. The class of 2022 boasts a median Law School Admission Test (LSAT) score of 159, the highest of any class since 2012, and the median undergraduate grade point average of 3.

Blackshear Gala celebrates College of Law diversity

The University of Tennessee College of Law honored two of its alumni and three current students during the 19th Annual Julian Blackshear, Jr. Gala on Feb. 8. The Blackshear Gala, named for one of the college’s first African American graduates, serves as a fundraiser for diversity education.
