Harold Heck
Professor Heck is an esteemed Associate Director of the Academic Success Program and a dedicated Legal Writing Lecturer with a robust teaching background. He holds a Juris Doctor from Mercer University and an MBA from Boise State University, blending expertise in law with business acumen to foster educational excellence. With a passion for student well-being and community building, Harold has made significant contributions to the field of academic support. His work includes the insightful presentation “The Power of Dogs: Leveraging Therapy Dogs to Reduce Stress and Build Community,” at the AASE annual conference in May 2024.
Heck’s influence extends beyond academia through his works, such as “Therapy dog provides stress relief, joy to Mercer Law students and beyond” in the Fall 2023 edition of Mercer Lawyer magazine and his commentary on legislative changes in Georgia featured on 41NBC/WMGT’s December 2023 segment titled “Supreme Court of Georgia eases requirements for military spouses to practice law in the state”
Beyond his professional pursuits, Harold is also one half of a therapy dog team alongside his bullmastiff Rose. Together, they provide comfort and joy to students, faculty, and staff alike, embodying the belief that empathy and support are crucial components of success.
