The University of Tennessee College of Law invites lawyers, agriculture industry experts, students, faculty, and members of the community to gather on Friday, October 9, for a one-day symposium on changing trends in agricultural production and how law and policy are adapting.
The symposium, “Into the Field: Food and Agricultural Law and Policy,” will be held at the College of Law, 1505 West Cumberland Avenue. Sponsored by the Center for Advocacy and Dispute Resolution and the Tennessee Journal of Law and Policy, the symposium will feature addresses by legal, policy, and agriculture leaders.
Cari Rincker of Rincker Law, PLLC will deliver the keynote address. Rincker is a general practitioner in New York City with concentrations in food, agriculture law, and family law. She speaks frequently on agricultural law issues and is published often on agricultural law topics, including her recent book, Field Manual: Legal Guide for New York Farmers and Food Entrepreneurs.
Other speakers and panelists will include Rob Holland, director of the Center for Profitable Agriculture; Rhedona Rose, executive vice president of Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation; Theresa Denton, counsel for the Tennessee Department of Agriculture; Julie Bowling, counsel for Tennessee Farmers Insurance Co.; Mike Buschermohle, a professor with the UT Institute of Agriculture; and John Dillard, an associate attorney with OFW Law.
Online registration is required. For lawyers seeking continuing legal education (CLE) credit, the cost is $50, which covers six hours of credit (including one hour of dual credit), all materials, and lunch.
