Elaine Eberhart has joined the University of Tennessee College of Law to serve as the senior director of advancement.
Eberhart, a 1983 alumna of the College of Law, has more than 30 years of experience as a fundraiser and gift planner. Most recently, she has been the vice chair of the department of development for Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
She also has served as senior director of development and planned giving for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Foundation, director of planned giving for the University of Alabama at Birmingham, director of development for the Southern Poverty Law Center, executive director of gift planning at the University of Pennsylvania, and in a variety of development positions with Emory University including Woodruff Health Sciences Center and Candler School of Theology.
Eberhart said she is eager to pursue a new challenge.
“I look forward to advancing philanthropy to benefit students and the clients and communities they will serve and to sustain the excellence in legal education that has been the hallmark of the College of Law for more than 130 years,” Eberhart said.
Eberhart received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College, a Juris Doctor from the UT College of Law and a Master of Divinity from Candler School of Theology at Emory University.
Dean Lonnie T. Brown, Jr. said the College of Law is incredibly fortunate to have Eberhart return to her alma mater to lead advancement efforts.
“With her leadership skills and vast experience, the College of Law is well positioned to continue and build upon our strong philanthropic tradition, which enables us to attract outstanding students and consistently provide them with unparalleled preparation to practice law at the highest level,” Brown said “Elaine’s work is critically important to the College of Law’s mission and our future growth and success. I know that we as an institution are in very capable hands.”
Eberhart began working in her position on Sept. 26 overseeing the College of Law’s advancement and development operations.
