Field placements involve supervised legal work by a law student in a professional placement, as approved by the employer. Students receive academic credit for this work at a rate of 50 hours of work (per term) = 1 credit hour. Students work with a faculty supervisor and an employer supervisor to maximize the experiential learning of the participating student. Field placements occurring during the Fall and Spring semesters are covered in the regular tuition paid by the student. Summer field placements require addition tuition per academic hour sought.
The Career Center is happy to help facilitate the hiring process for field placements. To learn more about potentially hiring a student for a field placement, please contact Joe Christian at firstname.lastname@example.org or 865-974-4349.
