Assistant Professor of Law and Wilkinson Research Professor

Professor Tomer Stein focuses his teaching and scholarship on Corporate Law and Governance, Mergers and Acquisitions, Securities Regulation, and Corporate Finance. Professor Stein is also affiliated with the Haslam College of Business, where he serves as a Research Fellow in both the Neel Corporate Governance Center and the Anderson Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation. Outside of the University of Tennessee, Professor Stein’s national service includes his appointment to the Executive Committee of the Business Associations section of the American Association of Law Schools. His scholarly publications have appeared or are forthcoming in law journals such as the Columbia Law Review, Washington University Law Review, and Georgia Law Review.

In addition to his academic work, Professor Stein serves as consultant and expert witness on various business law matters. Professor Stein previously practiced corporate law at the New York office Latham & Watkins LLP and as a legal consultant to the capital markets arm of the Royal Bank of Canada. His practice focused on capital markets, general securities and corporate governance matters. Professor Stein’s experience includes advising corporate, private equity, and banking clients on a broad range of public and private domestic and cross-border financing transactions, including initial public offerings, high-yield and investment grade debt offerings, follow-on and secondary equity offerings, liability management transactions and committed financings.

Professor Stein has previously served as a foreign law clerk to Justice Isaac Amit of the Supreme Court of Israel.
