Rachelle Ketchum West
Professor Rachelle Ketchum West joined the UT Law faculty in 2023 as a legal writing lecturer. Prior to joining the College of Law, she was a faculty member at the University of Idaho College of Law in Boise, Idaho.
Professor West began her legal career as a law clerk for the Honorable Sean F. Cox in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. After her clerkship, she joined the Antitrust Division of the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. through the Honors Attorney program. As a civil trial attorney, Professor West investigated mergers and potentially anticompetitive conduct involving entities primarily in the transportation, energy, and agriculture sectors.
- Education & Experience
Professor West received her J.D. with a Certificate in Business Law from DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, Illinois, where she graduated magna cum laude and was elected to the Order of the Coif. She is admitted to practice law in Michigan, Illinois, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
