Tennessee Law team dominates Phi Alpha Delta mock trial competition

For the second consecutive year, a University of Tennessee College of Law team has won the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity International’s Mock Trial Competition. During the competition on Feb. 22 and 23 in Arlington, Va., two UT College of Law teams, consisting of four students each, competed against 26 other teams.

College offers loan repayment assistance

Recent graduates working in public interest law once again have the opportunity to receive assistance repaying their student debt through a program being offered by the University of Tennessee College of Law. Four graduates each received $4,000 in 2018 through the Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell, & Berkowitz, PC Loan Repayment Assistance Program.

Three students selected for Tennessee Bar Diversity Leadership Institute

Three University of Tennessee College of Law students have been selected to participate in the Tennessee Bar Association’s Diversity Leadership Institute. Third-year student Jenna Macnair, and second-year students Miranda Stoltz and Taylor Flake, will spend the next few months taking part in the leadership and mentoring program designed specifically for Tennessee students studying law.

College of Law partners with UT Martin to offer law degree option

The University of Tennessee College of Law has launched a partnership with the University of Tennessee at Martin to expand the 3+3 program.  Beginning with the fall 2019 semester, UT Martin students choosing to major in English or political science on the Bachelor of Arts degree path can add a concentration in legal studies.

Blackshear Gala celebrates College of Law diversity

The University of Tennessee College of Law honored two of its alumni and three current students during the 19th Annual Julian Blackshear, Jr. Gala on Feb. 8. The Blackshear Gala, named for one of the college’s first African American graduates, serves as a fundraiser for diversity education.

Ivey named outstanding advocate at trial competition

A second-year College of Law student walked away from the Region 8 National Trial Competition this month with the title of outstanding advocate. Erika Ivey was part of a three-member student team that traveled to Montgomery, Alabama, Feb.
