Students to host 11th annual environmental law conference

The Appalachian Public Interest Environmental Law Conference will take place at the University of Tennessee College of Law on Sept. 26. The 11th annual event, hosted by the College of Law’s Environmental Law student organization, will be offered virtually via Zoom.

Four graduates receive loan repayment assistance

The University of Tennessee College of Law has selected four alumni to receive financial awards through the Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell, & Berkowitz, PC Loan Repayment Assistance Program. This program, now in its third year, annually provides financial assistance to College of Law graduates who work in public interest law.

Faculty Forum: June 2020

Faculty Forum is a monthly feature written by Professor Michael Higdon highlighting the achievements of faculty at UT Law including publications in academia and the media, speaking engagements, interviews, awards and other accomplishments. Professor Brad Areheart’s article, “Organizational Justice and Antidiscrimination,” was recently published in Volume 104 of the Minnesota Law Review. It was also reviewed positively at Workplace Prof Blog and Legal Theory Blog.

College hires new Academic Success Program director

Charisse Heath will join the College of Law in July as the director of the Academic Success Program.  As the Academic Success Program director and a member of the faculty, Heath is responsible for providing instruction, counseling and advising assistance to students throughout the course of their academic careers at the College of Law.

Law faculty to discuss race and gender disparities in academia

Renowned author and interdisciplinary professor Meera E. Deo will lead a virtual workshop with College of Law faculty this month to discuss her book “Unequal Profession.” Deo’s research centers upon trends in legal education, institutional diversity and affirmative action.
