Joel Katz, a UT Law alumnus (’69) for whom the Joel A. Katz Law Library is named, has been recognized by Billboard Magazine as Lawyer of the Year.
In its story about the honor, Billboard says “Katz is the go-to attorney for many top label executives, including Republic Records chairman/CEO Monte Lipman and president/COO Avery Lipman, RCA president/COO Tom Corson and UMG Nashville CEO Mike Dungan, for whom he negotiated a new deal in 2016.
Katz has represented Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Mary J. Blige, Jamie Foxx, George Strait, Kenny Chesney, Ludacris, Jimmy Buffett, Julio Iglesias, TLC and many others.
