The University of Tennessee College of Law ranks 51st among all U.S. law schools and 22nd for clinical training, according to the 2024 U.S. News and World Report law school rankings released today.
The College of Law rose five spots in the overall law school rankings this year after rising four spots the prior year and now ranks 24th among public law schools.
The College of Law’s Legal Clinic—the longest-running in the nation—ranks 11th among public schools, and its business and corporate law program ranks 36th overall and 13th among publics.
The U.S. News & World Report rankings are based on two types of data: expert opinion about program excellence and statistical indicators that measure the quality of a school’s faculty, research and students.
College of Law Dean Lonnie T. Brown, Jr. said this year’s rankings are an indication that the emphasis on preparing students to practice law with a passionate commitment to leadership and public service is rightfully being recognized.
“Through our graduates’ consistently high employment rates, we know that the academic rigor and transformational educational experiences that we offer are preparing them to be excellent lawyers,” Brown said. “The notable increase in the College of Law’s ranking over the past few years, including this year’s highest ranking in more than 18 years, is gratifying validation of the hard work of our faculty, staff and students.”
