College offers loan debt assistance program to recent graduates

The University of Tennessee College of Law is offering recent graduates working in public interest law the opportunity to receive assistance repaying their student debt.

The Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell, & Berkowitz, PC Loan Repayment Assistance Program at the College of Law provides up to $10,000 of loan relief. Applicants must meet a number of criteria in order to qualify for assistance through the program.

Successful applicants must be employed in legal positions that benefit non-profit organizations, or local, state or federal government entities. Those whose employment involves legal representation of financially challenged and historically under-represented clients are particularly encouraged to apply.

“We look forward every year to offering this program to assist our graduates who are doing such important work in their communities,” Interim Dean Doug Blaze said.

“These are attorneys who are often working long hours in challenging jobs while providing excellent legal services. We grateful to be able to support them with the help of our partners at Baker Donelson who are equally committed to our graduates’ success.”
