College hires new Academic Success Program director

Charisse Heath will join the College of Law in July as the director of the Academic Success Program. 

As the Academic Success Program director and a member of the faculty, Heath is responsible for providing instruction, counseling and advising assistance to students throughout the course of their academic careers at the College of Law. She will also offer guidance to graduates preparing for the bar examination. 

Heath earned a bachelor’s degree with honors in political science from Yale University, and she later graduated from Yale Law School. 

Heath was most recently an assistant dean at the University of Detroit Mercy where she counseled students in academic success and bar preparation.

She has a broad range of corporate and commercial legal experience having worked with the law firms of Reavis and McGrath (now Norton Rose Fulbright US LLP), and Zimet, Haines, Moss and Friedman (now the Novartis Corporation) in New York. She also worked with Ciba-Geigy Corp., a multinational chemical and pharmaceutical company; the Detroit Medical Center; and GMAC LLC (now known as Ally Financial Inc.). 

Heath has taught courses in contracts, sales law, secured transactions, commercial transactions, and food and drug law.
