College of Law celebrates Big Orange Give

The College of Law is working to raise $41,321 today in conjunction with the University’s Big Orange Give campaign.

The dollar amount coincides with the number of pro-bono service hours students have completed on behalf of the College of Law throughout the last five years.

“These gifts help our students actually practice law before they graduate and learn as they assist deserving people who otherwise wouldn’t have legal representation,” College of Law Dean Melanie Wilson said.

Those who contribute to the College of Law today have the opportunity to see their gift amount tripled. Law alumnus Rick Rose has agreed to make a two-to-one match for donations of up to $250 to the UT Law fund.

For the past four years, UT has drawn more than 4,000 donors and $1 million during the Big Orange Give, a five-day social-media-based giving campaign that increases funds for student scholarships and support for colleges and programs on campus.

Beginning at 12:01 a.m. today, the university aims to raise $1 million in just 24 hours. Donors can designate their gifts to any specific college or student-led organization.
