Throughout the month of November, the University of Tennessee is celebrating first-generation college students and their determination to overcome obstacles and pursue their education. University of Tennessee College of Law Dean Melanie D. Wilson, the first in her family to attend college, advocates for others to follow her lead.

Rothey and Kumi prevail in Advocates’ Prize

Two second-year law students dominated their peers to win top honors in the Advocates’ Prize Moot Court Competition at the College of Law this week. Evan Rothey won for best brief and best team, while Sharon Kumi won as best oralist. United States Court of Appeals judges Joseph A. Greenway, Jr., Carlos F. Lucero and Stephanie D.
