Investing in the Journey

A campaign for UT Law

In the College of Law, we train students in legal theory and practice to foster justice for all citizens and promote the role of law in a just society. We are on a mission to build on our progressive and rich tradition of innovation. For decades, we have been generations ahead in clinical education. We have offered students a rigorous educational opportunity with multiple assessments and interactive learning, integrating theory and practice across the curriculum, long before those were catchphrases.

Your support builds on our strengths and renews our commitment to preparing leaders in the legal community and in public service. To move UT Law and the University of Tennessee to the upper echelons of public higher education and to improve the value of the degrees of every law graduate—yesterday, today, and tomorrow—we need your support.

UT Law

Goal: $45 million

Your support of our journey makes a great impact. Investing in the state’s flagship campus increases the quality and value of our education, expands our contribution to economic growth and development, and brings Big Ideas to life for the benefit of all Tennesseans.

Professor Michael Higdon

Our campaign to raise $45 million by 2020 will raise funds that will allow us to focus additional resources on student scholarships, educational programs, and outstanding faculty.

Support for student scholarships and loan forgiveness programs will help UT Law recruit a diverse and talented student body and ease the debt load of graduates as they begin their careers. Meeting this goal will close the gap between UT Law and other outstanding public law schools.

You can also support our various programs, including the Center for Advocacy and Dispute Resolution, the Clayton Center for Entrepreneurial Law, the Institute for Professional Leadership, our legal journals, and our Legal Clinic, the longest-running program of its kind in the country. Our programs promote legal scholarship and offer students real-world experiential learning opportunities to prepare them for legal practice. Your support for these and other programs will help UT Law expand its reach, improve our educational offerings, and encourage scholarship and service.

Finally, we need your help in supporting our talented and dedicated faculty in ways that we have not in the past, including with endowed chairs, professorships, and research support, all of which will help us recruit and retain the best faculty in the nation.

“I know that I could not have attended law school were it not for the scholarship opportunities extended to me. Your gift to the college allows students to dream big.”
