From the national retailers you’ve relied on for years to eclectic locally-owned shops and boutiques; Knoxville truly is a shopper’s paradise.

Groceries and Basic Amenities

University Commons Retail Center

The University Commons Retail Center is the first urban, vertical retail structure in Knoxville, Tennessee. It is situated on the property of the former Fulton Bellows & Components plant, just off Kingston Pike. The center is only a few blocks from campus and features ample parking space underneath the center. The center is anchored by Publix and Walmart:

  • Publix at University Commons: This Publix location opened in 2014 and features a wide range of groceries (including produce, dairy, meat, and seafood), a pharmacy, a full-service deli and bakery, a wok station, a soup and salad bar, a chef’s selection station, and a sushi station. This Publix location also sells household products and office supplies.
  • Walmart at University Commons: This Walmart location opened in 2014 and features a pharmacy, some grocery items, clothing, household products, electronics, office supplies, home improvement supplies, automotive supplies, and more.

Malls and Shopping Centers

The District in Bearden

Located less than 10 miles from campus, the District in Bearden features locally-owned upscale specialty shops that offer distinctive art, antique, design, and fashion merchandise.

Downtown Knoxville/Market Square

Knoxville’s personality shines through the eclectic group of locally-owned shops and boutiques that call the downtown area home. According to Atlanta Magazine, Knoxville was “local before local was cool” and our downtown area features homemade cosmetic boutiques, antique and furniture shops, fashion and accessory boutiques, food markets, and more.

Tanger Outlets in Sevierville

Located just over 20 miles from campus, Tanger Outlets features brand name and designer fashions and accessories, jewelry, housewares and china, home décor, luggage, books, and more. Retailers at the Sevierville location include Banana Republic, Bath and Body Works, Coach, Columbia Sportswear, Forever 21, Fossil, J. Crew, Nike, PacSun, Polo Ralph Lauren, Under Armour, and more.

Turkey Creek

Located a mere 14 miles from campus, Turkey Creek is home to more than 200 stores, shops, restaurants, and entertainment options. Popular stores at Turkey Creek include Best Buy, EarthFare, Gander Mountain, Hobby Lobby, Marshall’s, Office Max, PetSmart, Publix, Target, Walmart, Weigel’s, and World Market.

West Town Mall

Located west of campus, West Town Mall is the largest shopping mall in the area (and one of the largest in the state) and has many popular national retailers including Apple, AT&T, Belk, Banana Republic, Dillard’s, GAP, JCPenney, Verizon Wireless, and many more. The mall also features a Cheesecake Factory restaurant, a food court and a Regal Cinema.
