Students have the opportunity to participate in field placements with local non-profit entities and business ventures on a for-credit basis during the academic year and in the summer. The field placement experience combines a practical component—learning by doing—with a reflective component—reflecting upon what has been done and upon relevant facets of the legal system, as illuminated by the field experience.
Recent field placements offered in conjunction with the Clayton Center for Entrepreneurial Law have included:
- General counsel, Oak Ridge National Laboratory
- General counsel, Y-12 National Security Complex
- Regulatory Compliance Office, UT Athletics
Students may also work with faculty to explore other field placement opportunities.
