Institute for Professional Leadership names Kostas 2021-22 student fellow

Third-year law student Stefan Kostas has been named the University of Tennessee College of Law’s Hardwick Fellowship recipient for 2021-2022.

Kostas will work closely with the Institute for Professional Leadership providing research and communication support for the institute’s curricular offerings and community engagement.

Joan Heminway, interim director of the Institute for Professional Leadership, said Kostas is an excellent student who represents the best of the College of Law.

“Stefan is an emerging leader and is a natural for this position,” Heminway said.  “His engagement with the institute’s curriculum, research activities involving lawyer leadership, attentiveness to detail and strong work ethic make him incredibly well-suited.”

Kostas is working as an associate for the second consecutive summer for Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, P.C. Later this summer, he will join Euclid Transactional’s New York City office as a legal counsel intern.

At the College of Law, Kostas has been a legal process fellow and a graduate research and teaching assistant, and in the coming year he will serve as president of the Health Law Society.

Kostas also worked as an intern for former Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam.

The Hardwick Fellowship is awarded annually and is made possible by a gift from alumna Laura Steel.
