Cosby named UT Law Library associate director

UT Law welcomed Michelle T. Cosby this week as the new associate director of the college’s Joel A. Katz Law Library.

In her new position, Cosby will oversee the daily operation of the Law Library, which is staffed by seven faculty members and eight library staff. She will assist Scott Childs, the associate dean for library and technology services, with personnel, budget, and administrative activities for the library; teach legal research classes; and lead the library’s faculty in supporting law student and faculty research.

“We are very excited to welcome Michelle to the College of Law,” Childs said. “In addition to her assistance in the administration of the library, she brings a wealth of experience to UT Law that will help us increase our support of faculty scholarship and the teaching of legal research skills to our students.”

Cosby previously served as senior reference and instructional services librarian at the North Carolina Central University School of Law Library and as a reference librarian at the law libraries of the universities of Kentucky and Miami.

She holds a law degree and a Master of Library Science degree, both from Indiana University Bloomington, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from Butler University.
